Mercedes VIN Decoders Compared (2026): Prices and What Each One Shows

How eight services to check a Mercedes-Benz VIN compare: price, what they deliver, market and format.

FindMyExtras is our own service.

TL;DR

For the factory equipment of a Mercedes-Benz (option codes, paint and upholstery), FindMyExtras, our own service, costs €2.99 with no account and returns the report instantly. Multi-brand equipment-list services such as BuildVIN and Carpatics cover several makes at higher listed prices. If you need accident or mileage history, use a history service: Carlytics in Europe or CarCheckerVIN in the US. For the original US window sticker with MSRP, MonroneyLabels is the service built for that.

As stated on each service's website, checked 28/10/2026. Prices and terms change: check the site before buying.

FindMyExtras (our own service)

FindMyExtras is a Mercedes-Benz specialist for factory equipment. For a VIN it returns the factory option codes with descriptions, the paint and upholstery codes, and the model, chassis and year. Descriptions are checked against the official price lists for the main series; codes without a confirmed description are flagged as not confirmed. The report comes as a web page, a PDF and a "copy for AI" text, and the site is available in English, Portuguese, Spanish and German.

A single report costs €2.99; packs of 3, 5 and 10 cost €6.99, €9.99 and €16.99. No account is needed and the report is instant. If there is no factory data for the VIN, you automatically receive a credit for another VIN, or a full refund on request (see the refunds page).

Factory build data linked to the VIN, obtained through a specialised data provider. FindMyExtras is independent and not affiliated with Mercedes-Benz.

It is not a history report: it shows no accident, title or ownership history, and no US prices.

BuildVIN: equipment lists for many brands

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): a multi-brand service that produces the factory equipment list (build sheet) for European, American and Asian makes. $9.99 per report, or packs of 6 reports for $40.99 and 12 for $67.99. The list is emailed as two PDFs. No account is needed for single reports and packs. If it cannot produce the equipment list for a VIN, the payment is refunded. Purpose: equipment lists across many brands, not vehicle history.

Carpatics: build options for many brands

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): a multi-brand service that returns the manufacturer's build options for a VIN: option codes and descriptions, packages, exterior paint and interior upholstery. A single report costs €5.00 including VAT (other offers and credit terms: see their site). A free preview is available; for account requirements, see their site. The site states that it is not a history report and that a VIN that cannot be decoded uses no credit.

auto.vin: build data plus service history

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): combines the factory build data with official service history from the manufacturer's systems, when available, for several brands. €12.90 per report, one-time payment with no subscription and no registration required (pricing page). For refund conditions see its refund policy. Purpose: build data and service history in one report.

MonroneyLabels: the US window sticker

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): reproduces the original US window sticker (Monroney label): base and total MSRP, options and packages with their original prices, and fuel-economy and crash-test ratings. A one-time fee of $9.99 per vehicle (their FAQ). It covers US-market vehicles of the brands it supports, not cars sold outside the US. An account is needed to buy and view the sticker; refunds are requested by email. Purpose: the original US price sheet.

CarCheckerVIN: US vehicle history

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): a US vehicle-history service. The report covers title records, accidents, odometer checks, theft and lien checks and recalls, plus a general specifications and options list. It is built for US-market vehicles. Price: $14.99 per report; packs of 3, 5 and 10 cost $35.99, $54.99 and $89.99. Purpose: history of US cars.

Carlytics: European vehicle history

According to its website (checked 28/10/2026): a European vehicle-history service. The report covers mileage history, damage records, a stolen-vehicle check and recalls, together with basic vehicle data. The site states that no account is required. Price: €8.90 + VAT per report. Purpose: history of vehicles in Europe, rather than a full list of Mercedes-Benz option codes.

Mercedes-Benz dealer

Some Mercedes-Benz dealers can print the manufacturer's own data card (the "Datenkarte") for a VIN. Whether a given dealer does it, how long it takes and whether it charges for it depends on the dealer; some do it at the counter at no charge. It is the manufacturer's own record, but it means contacting or visiting a dealer. Purpose: the official printout, on request.

Which one to choose

- Factory equipment of any Mercedes-Benz, instantly and without an account: FindMyExtras. - Accident or mileage history: combine the equipment report with a history service, Carlytics for Europe or CarCheckerVIN for the US. - Build data and official service history in one report: auto.vin. - The original US price sticker (MSRP): MonroneyLabels. - Several brands, not only Mercedes-Benz: BuildVIN or Carpatics. - The manufacturer's own printout: ask a Mercedes-Benz dealer; it depends on the dealer.

These services have different purposes, so the right choice depends on what you need to check. Prices and terms change: confirm them on each site before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the cheapest way to check a Mercedes' factory options?

Among the services in this comparison with a published price, the single-report prices stated on their websites on 28/10/2026 are: FindMyExtras €2.99 (packs of 3, 5 and 10: €6.99, €9.99, €16.99), Carpatics €5.00 including VAT, BuildVIN $9.99 and auto.vin €12.90 (which also includes service history where available). Some Mercedes-Benz dealers print the manufacturer's data card at the counter; whether they do, and at what price, depends on the dealer. For history rather than equipment: CarCheckerVIN $14.99 and Carlytics €8.90 + VAT per report. Prices change, so check each site.

Which service shows accident history?

FindMyExtras does not: it shows factory equipment, not accident, title or ownership history. According to their websites, Carlytics (Europe) and CarCheckerVIN (US) are history services, and auto.vin combines build data with official service history where available. Many buyers use an equipment report together with a history report, because they answer different questions.

Can I get the US window sticker?

MonroneyLabels is the service built for that: according to its FAQ it reproduces the window sticker of US-market vehicles of the brands it covers, for a one-time $9.99 fee (checked 28/10/2026). FindMyExtras does not show US prices (MSRP) or the window sticker.

Does FindMyExtras work for US cars?

Yes. FindMyExtras decodes US-market Mercedes-Benz VINs too, and US-specific option codes are described for the main series. It does not show US prices (MSRP) or the window sticker; for that, use MonroneyLabels. If there is no factory data for a VIN, you automatically receive a credit for another VIN, or a full refund on request.
